9 October – Australia's conservative party have won the election, promising a military-style operation to hunt down desperate people seeking safety. Regional talks have started and the pressure for a fair solution is growing. Will you sign now?

26 July – Australia is sending all refugees, who arrive by boat, to Papua New Guinea – where gay people can be sent to jail for 14 years.

We have a chance to stop this right now. The Prime Minister just announced the election. A global outcry could force the issue front and centre for every party, and make this issue a decider for who is fit to lead the country.

Australia is one of the few countries in the region that openly accepts lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. It has always been a safe haven for refugees fleeing extreme persecution. Sign the petition to make Australia a safe haven again!

Australia is refusing all asylum claims coming to its shores by boat – and sending them to Papua New Guinea, where it's a crime to be gay. Only by demanding that all asylum claims are processed in Australia can we ensure safety for every LGBT refugee.

To: The Australian Government

We stand with citizens across Australia who are calling on their government to stop the crackdown against asylum seekers that is placing more and more lesbian, gay, bi and trans people in danger.

We urge Australia's leaders to ensure they abide by the Geneva Convention and protect LGBT refugees by processing all asylum claims in Australia.
